Vogue World Milano, the fifth edition: Italian handwork against artificial intelligence, staged in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
Vogue World: Milano was the fifth edition of the event, and the first in Italy.
The order it travelled in is the interesting part. New York in 2022, then London, then Paris, then Los Angeles, and only now the city that sits closest to where luxury clothing is actually made. An evening built on Italian handwork reached Italy last.
Jennifer Lopez walked in a black evening dress, arriving with Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, who were there along with Miuccia Prada and Donatella Versace. The format is part runway, part staged performance, run as themed acts with guests who are not announced in advance.
The library it raised money for sits in Quarto Oggiaro, well outside the centre and a long way from the Galleria. The plan is to reopen it as a centre for fashion, music, art and social work.
