Galliano's first Zara collection, Re(form), goes on sale 1 October: reworked garments from Zara's own past seasons
John Galliano's first collection for Zara, Re(form), goes on sale on 1 October, a month after he and the Metropolitan Museum of Art called off John Galliano: Horizons, the Costume Institute exhibition that was to open in May 2027 with the Met Gala built around it. Zara announced the date on Monday with a black-and-white video and one line: authored by Couturier John Galliano, built from our memory, made for now. The two-year deal was announced on 17 March. Rather than new designs, Galliano is deconstructing and reconfiguring garments from Zara's past seasons. He was dismissed from Dior in March 2011 over antisemitic remarks made in a Paris bar, for which he was convicted in France that year, and led Maison Margiela from 2014 to December 2024. In his 31 August statement he said meaningful atonement is not achieved through an exhibition, institutional recognition or a single public gesture.
