Acne Studios SS27 Denim Hystoria at the Collège des Bernardins: 1996 first jeans with historic dress, Renaissance painting fragments, New Romantics and Prince Charming, Faig Ahmed carpets

Acne Studios has been going for 30 years, and Denim Hystoria folds that history into a wider one: the brand's own first jeans set against court dress of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, with denim as the canvas. Faded brocades and floral motifs like faded porcelain ran through it, alongside satin court shoes. The show notes asked guests to picture the New Romantics reframed for a changed reality. Faig Ahmed, whose carpets made the set, works from the traditional textiles of Azerbaijan.

07THE BACKDROP WAS TRADITIONAL CARPETS BY THE AZERBAIJANI ARTIST FAIG AHMED, WHICH APPEARED TO MELT.

08THE VASA WAS IN THERE TOO, THE SWEDISH WARSHIP THAT SANK ON ITS MAIDEN VOYAGE IN 1628. JOHANSSON SOMETIMES THINKS ABOUT IT.
