Yohji Yamamoto SS27: fringe everywhere across 42 looks, almost all dresses; wire-rimmed spiralling opening; patchwork and lattices of strands; 'process is suffering'; a slow walk to a soft soundtrack

Yohji Yamamoto showed on the evening of Friday 2 October in Paris. Several of the hand-worked wrappings hung from properly constructed, tailored shoulders, and the knitwear thinned from solid colour into transparency. Asked whether the fringes were turning into fabric or the fabric into fringes, he said that was up to you.

The post, as it ran

01FRINGE WAS EVERYWHERE AT YOHJI YAMAMOTO'S SPRING 2027 SHOW: 42 LOOKS, ALMOST ALL OF THEM DRESSES.
02THE OPENING LOOKS WERE SCULPTURAL, SPIRALLING PANELS OF TWO-TONE FABRIC ON WIRED CURVES.
03THEN CAME PATCHWORKED PANELS, AND LATTICES OF STRANDS WRAPPED AROUND THE BODY.
04THE MODELS WALKED SLOWLY, TO A SOFT SOUNDTRACK.
05ASKED BACKSTAGE WHETHER HE ENJOYS THE PROCESS: 'PROCESS IS SUFFERING.'
06THE FINAL LOOK WAS A MASS OF RED FRINGE OVER BLACK.
